House passes bill to deny health insurance tax credits to illegal immigrants

One issue that did come up was the funding of ObamaCare subsidy payments to insurers known as cost-sharing reductions.

Democrats say the process is blatantly hypocritical because Republicans complained before Obamacare passed in 2010 that it was largely written behind closed doors.

Republican senators still disagree on major components of potential legislation, and the meeting with Trump did little to change their minds.

Hatch's spokesman, Matt Whitlock, said the senator appreciated meeting with Trump.

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the Senate Finance Committee chairman, explained that repealing all of Obamacare's taxes would be the Senate's loftiest goal, However, the Utah lawmaker said that the Senate would consider all options.

"He just mostly listened", Portman said.

"The House has passed a bill and now the Senate is working very, very hard, and specifically the folks in this room, and I really appreciate what you're doing to come out with a bill that's going to be a phenomenal bill for the people of our country", Trump told reporters. The Senate is aso looking at slowing down the rollback of Obamacare's Medicaid expansion by several years.

There seems to be agreement, however on protecting people with pre-existing conditions. BuzzFeed's article said Trump used the phrase "son of a bitch" to describe the pending legislation.

"We promised the voters we'd repeal Obamacare", Paul added.

But Senate Republicans appear more likely to directly fund Planned Parenthood.

Senator David Perdue, R-Georgia, said the disagreement on which taxes to keep is a dividing the conference.

"Right now, the insurance companies are fleeing". His legislative affairs team has been closely involved, but the President himself has been removed - by design, multiple aides on Capitol Hill said. Its original objective was to help low-income Americans survive when the USA economy goes through one of its periodic dips. Trump once promised "insurance for everybody" and vowed that no one should be blocked from health insurance because they can't afford it.

Trump's lunch included a number of more moderate Republicans, including Sens.

Leadership desires to get a vote on the bill before a week-long July 4 recess, meaning there would be little time between the bill's release and a vote. A CBO analysis of the bill will take ten to 14 days, meaning text of legislation would have to be sent to the CBO by the end of the week. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.: "You haven't yet scheduled a hearing on the Republican Trumpcare bill".
