Abu Salem Abdul Qayoom Ansari: Guilty He was extradited from Portugal and arrested on November 11, 2005.

The court has set a hearing on June 20 to decide the quantum of sentence.

Mustafa Dossa: One of the masterminds of the March 12, 1993 serial terror blasts, he smuggled firearms, ammunitions, detonators, hand grenades and highly explosive substances like RDX into India.

Besides offences under the TADA Act, the Arms Act and the Explosives Act, Dossa was convicted on charges of conspiracy and murder under various sections of the IPC, whereas Salem ahead of the blasts, was found chargeable of transporting weapons from Gujarat to Mumbai.

"But, in my view it's not justice to the victims who died in blasts, because the main conspirators Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon, Anees Ibrahim and Mohammad Dossa are still in Pakistan and our government failed to bring them to book", he said.

Tushar Deshmukh, who lost his mother, said: "We are very positive and respect the Tada court's verdict".

Special judge Justice G.A. Sanap also upheld the contention of the prosecution that Salem was instrumental in distributing the arms, ammunitions and explosives to various people, including actor and accused Sanjay Dutt.

However, all accused were acquitted on the charge of waging war against the nation. Accused Abdul Qayyum was acquitted of all charges in the case. Besides Salem, the other convicts were Mustafa Dossa - who planned the landing of arms - Karimullah Khan, Firoz Abdul Rashid Khan, Riyaz Siddiqui and Tahir Merchant. The court observed that Feroz was "a prominent member" of the Dossa gang and was "actively involved" in smuggling the arms and ammunition to India. The other spots include Katha Bazaar, Lucky petrol pump near Sena Bhavan in Dadar, opposite the passport office near Century Bazaar in Worli, Fishermen's colony in Mahim, the basement of Air India building in Nariman Point, Zaveri Bazaar, Hotel Sea Rock, Plaza theatre, Centaur hotel in Juhu, Sahar airport and Centaur Hotel at the airport.

MUSTAFA DOSSA: The court held that Dossa "actively, wilfully, deliberately and consciously" participated in the first meeting (held at residence of his elder brother Mohammed Dossa in Dubai) "which gave birth to the original design of the heinous criminal conspiracy to take revenge against the Government and the Hindus" for demolition of Babri Masjid. This was the first-ever terror attack in the world where RDX was used in such a large-scale after the Second World War.

As per the treaty, Salem can be jailed for only 25 years and Indian authorities will have to deport him to Portugal.

But the Centre had committed to Portugal, from where the gangster was extradited, that he would not be given the death penalty. The demand for capital punishment or life imprisonment is a violation of extradition order.

One suspect in the case, Yakub Memon, was hanged in 2015. "People who hatched the conspiracy with Dawood Ibrahim in Dubai got convicted".
