Did Sidney Crosby Get Away With A Dirty Play?

"So we understand how difficult this game is going to be and how hard that we're going to have to play and how prepared we're going to have to be ultimately to have success". The Predators are backed into a corner, but they'll be at home, where they're 9-1 in the playoffs. The Penguins are up 3-2 and trying to win their second consecutive Cup, and their fourth-ever; the Predators just want to force a Game 7 on Wednesday night.

The 11th and final home game of these playoffs - the final game of the 2016-17 season at Bridgestone Arena - is nearly here. Game 5. Pittsburgh. Nashville. That will be their toughest challenge this season.

Rookies accounted for the game-winning goals in the first four games of the series, with Pittsburgh's Jake Guentzel connecting in Games One and Two and Gaudreau answering for the Preds in Games Three and Four.

Betting line: The Predators opened as -137 favorites (wager $137 to win $100); the total is at 5.5 goals, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.

The stars need to shine, but they can't always score. "But the way we played tonight, if we can build off that momentum, that's important", said Crosby.

Home ice has its advantages especially with the Stanley Cup Finals this season.

It was a nasty Game 5, in an increasingly nasty series. He set up the otherwise invisible Conor Sheary for his second goal of the playoffs in the second period. It had everything to do with a remarkable performance by the 34-year-old goaltender. Both Matthew Murray and Pekka Rinne are capable goaltenders, and able to handle themselves both mentally and physically.

There are so many sports every weekend that it can be almost impossible to keep track of them all. No goal there, but the Penguins would score moments later on the resulting power play. Pittsburgh can win the Cup Sunday in Music City.

Nashville rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the best-of-seven series and the home team has won all five games.

It's certainly possible, and it's the only scenario left for the Predators, starting with Game Six on Sunday night. "It's about going back and forth".

They'll have to do something or the Cup will be out of their hands, and into Pittsburgh's for the third time in a decade.

You could brush off that one instance, but not long after in second period a water bottle that came from Crosby's arm flew from the bench onto the ice and the Penguins scored a goal soon after.

He not only avoided losing three straight games for the first time in his career, he also stopped 24 shots for his second shutout of these playoffs, third in the postseason in his career.

Juuse Saros came on in relief of Rinne to start the 2nd, but he didn't fare much better. Not a good night for Nashville goaltenders.

Ron Hainsey has made it 6-0 Penguins over the Predators late in the second period of Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Kessel broke a six-game goal drought when he made it 5-0 and Hainsey made it 6-0 off a feed from Malkin at 16 minutes, 40 seconds of the second period. Nashville was the stronger team in the first two games in Pittsburgh but couldn't win, and the Penguins played somewhat well in a 4-1 loss in Tennessee in Game 4. Pittsburgh then scored on the ensuing power play, with Schultz one-timing a pass from Crosby that seemed to redirect off a Nashville player's stick on its way in. Right from the opening face-off you could tell that this was a different team.

First, there was the tussle with Subban towards the end of the first period where Subban grabbed Crosby's legs, and Crosby tried to escape by repeatedly pushed Subban's head into the ice, in full view of a ref. Players push limits all the time, but this went beyond just playoff hockey, and, for the uninitiated, it's just a bad visual. It should've been a penalty, but I thought that it was somewhat amusing, if I'm being honest. The home team has won each game in the series. "We did a better job of managing the game that way in Games 3 and 4". They're 4-0 when they have a chance to clinch a series, and 3-0 when facing elimination. "And I think everybody on our team can skate, move the puck and make plays".
