Commander Stuart Cundy said: The Metropolitan Police Service can now confirm the identity of one of the victims who perished as a result of the Grenfell Tower fire, has now been formally identified.

The Grenfell Tower erupted into flames Wednesday in a deadly blaze that left 24 people still hospitalized - 12 of them in critical condition.

King says numerous problems date back decades to changes in building regulations in 1986, which allowed blocks in London to be built and refurbished with materials on their exteriors that have nearly no fire-resistant qualities at all.

Residents furious over the handling of the Grenfell Tower disaster descended on the local town hall in west London Friday, shouting, "We want justice".

"We stand with those who will learn these lessons in honest efforts to advance the aligned goals of life/safety and environmental building performance", said the statement attributed to Brendan Owens, an engineer and senior vice president at the council.

She said support on the ground for families immediately after the blaze was "not good enough" and ordered that more staff be deployed at the scene in high-visibility clothing. We investigate criminal matters.

"Government is making money available; we're ensuring that we're going to get to the bottom of what's happened, we will ensure that people are rehoused".

Jonathan Lum, an advertising executive who lives on the 57th floor of a glittering Manhattan tower designed by Frank Gehry, said if a fire breaks out there, he will heed the wisdom of the fire department and stay in his apartment, but partly because he lives in a building constructed in the past decade.

After meeting with survivors of the fire on Friday, May announced a 5 million pound ($6.4 million) fund to help them in their plight.

It is understood that in March or April this year Barwell agreed in principle to meet the all-parliamentary group for the first time, but the meeting never happened because May called a general election and Barwell, no longer a member of parliament, moved to Downing Street to advise her.

"You have my absolute assurance that as soon as I can tell you something that I know to be accurate I will tell you".

He said: "You've got to build in resilience and safety through regulation, people have got to constantly practice for disasters".

She also chaired a meeting of a specialist Government task force to deal with the Grenfell tragedy.

And May said that support for families "who needed help or basic information in the initial hours" following the disaster "was not good enough", according to the Press Association. There are millions of people now that pray that this tragedy could be turned into a genuinely transformative moment for this country.

Queen Elizabeth and her grandson Prince William visited a community centre Friday where some survivors are being housed, with volunteers inundated with donations of clothes and food.

Experts say the cladding and the insulation it contained seems to have spread the flames quickly along the exterior of the building, overwhelming safety devices like fire doors.

The queen said it was "difficult to escape a very somber mood" on what is normally a day of celebration.

She said earlier that the national mood is sombre but that Britain is resolute in the face of adversity.

"The scale of this tragedy is clearly proving too much for the local authority to cope with on their own", the mayor said in his open letter to the prime minister. The U.K. government has also promised to find homes for the survivors within three weeks at the latest.
