Conor McGregor v. Floyd Mayweather officially on for Aug 26

I'm not saying Floyd Mayweather's going to win.

Neither Mayweather or McGregor have competed this year. So it should come as no surprise that the two finally came to an agreement on the superfight to take place this fall on August 26 in Las Vegas.

And, while the undefeated former five weight world champion and the UFC's Lightweight champion will dominate sports page headlines for the next two months, another UFC fighter, and McGregor's biggest rival inside the octagon, has got in on the action, following last night's announcement. "Nobody is bummed out".

Mayweather is now undefeated for his boxing career, reaching a 49-0 mark before retiring in 2015. McGregor is UFC's only simultaneous two-division champion.

"He is absolutely, 100% positive he will win this fight".

There will, of course, be no titles on the line, but it is an opportunity for both to cash in financially.

Hours after the commission approved the date request for the fight, Mayweather announced the fight that many believe will approach the 4.6 million buy record set by Mayweather-Pacquiao.

Not everyone will be excited to see a Mayweather-McGregor exhibition match, especially considering that McGregor is a 25-1 underdog.

Boxing champion turned promoter De La Hoya said a fight between the two would be an embarrassment for the sport of boxing.

After speculation on how the event would be branded and what promotional roles would be taken by the UFC and Mayweather Promotions, White indicated the UFC's stamp on the event will be limited to the presence of McGregor.

But McGregor, whose UFC titles have come at 145 and 155 pounds, is under long-term contract to the UFC and needed the company to go along with making the bout.

His boxing licence was granted by the California State Athletic Commission in December, allowing him to box in the USA state.
