Chelsea are reportedly trying to beat London rivals West Ham to the signing of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore this summer.

Traore's proposed £8m move to West Ham could be completed later this week, with the winger's representatives having met Hammers officials at the end of last week. Catalan paper Sport reports the Blues are being heavily linked with signing the 21-year-old and adds that Middlesbrough are planning to sell the former Barça starlet alongside Marten De Roon and Gaston Ramirez, two former Serie A stars.

He first moved to England with Aston Villa from Barcelona for £8million in the summer of 2015 before joining Boro for £7m a year later, but has spent the majority of his time in the Premier League seemingly frustrating fans and probably team-mates and managers alike.

The winger found life hard at the Riverside Stadium last season, having joined from Aston Villa, failing to make an impact in the Premier League.

The Spain youth worldwide joined Aston Villa for a reported £7 million fee, and suffered relegation to the Championship following a dismal 2015/16 campaign at Villa Park.

Traore is one of many Middlesbrough players who will be allowed to move on this summer and it appears as though he will again look to play in the Premier League next term, with Chelsea now said to have entered the race.

He is keen to sign Swansea centre-half Kyle Bartley, and is also lining up a move for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga.
