Cavaliers, Warriors deliver most-watched NBA Finals since 1998

The Golden State Warriors have plenty to celebrate after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals to earn their second championship in three years.

"I mean, come on, you got a bunch of guys who are talented and can shoot and pass and dribble, and they're unselfish", Kerr said.

But controversial policies and outlandish statements by President Donald Trump have upset many United States professional athletes, including players from the predominantly African American NBA. How they left money on the table or how they checked their ego at the door all for a chance at a championship.

He hugged mother Wanda many a time.

Curry made that statement in the same matter-of-fact tone he made this one. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? Probably not.

And Curry not only had to sacrifice his image as the "Alpha" but he also had to deal with the consistent questioning as to why he wasn't putting up the same numbers as last season. The Cavaliers shot 53.4 percent from the field Monday and 45.8 percent from behind the 3-point line. Why is he not the focal point of the offense anymore? You don't force anybody to have to take that approach, but at the end of the day, we know what's best for us as a group going forward and we're going to do whatever we can to keep this team together.

The Warriors would have made the NBA Finals this season without the services of Durant.

Usually, the National Basketball Association champions are invited to the White House to meet the president, an event that tends to take place at some point during the following season.

At this point, I know that there is no way to convince a person that disagrees with Durant's decision to leave Oklahoma City and join Golden State.

"I hear all the narratives throughout the season that I was joining, I was hopping on bandwagons, I was letting everybody else do the work", Durant said. Durant needed the Warriors and the Warriors needed Durant.

This time, James and Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving dragged the team to one dominant victory, in Game Four, while they blew an 11-point lead in Game Three.

Durant, the finals' most valuable player, is 28. After attempting 12.9 three's per 36 minutes through the first three rounds, Kevin Love attempted only 6.9 per 36 in The Finals. "I thought they gave everything they had, and we fought, we competed, and we never gave in, but they beat us". Durant was the difference.

Not only did they match it, Curry and Durant swept the Western Conference playoffs, sweeping Portland, Utah, and 61 win San Antonio 4-0 4-0 4-0.

Which seems to be the message from these Warriors, who enter the offseason with surprisingly little drama despite 10 of their 15 players heading for free agency.

There's an expectation now in the Bay Area. "Whether you want to believe in him or not, he's still coming".
