Fiona, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden's popular baby hippo, met some of her admirers today.

Fiona is making her news media debut Wednesday evening with cameras rolling as she navigates the 9-foot-deep Hippo Cove pool.

Fiona was born January 24, weighing 29 pounds.

She now weighs over 270 pounds, and zoo officials say she is gaining weight and strength.

CBS affiliate WKRC-TV in Cincinnati was at the event Wednesday and live streamed it on Facebook. The videos attract tens of millions of online views. Thousands of shirts with TeamFiona written on them have been sold in addition to Fiona-themed baked goods.

Zoo officials said Fiona could be on public display this summer, but no date has been set as caretakers monitor Fiona's development.

Earlier this year, the nursing staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) delivered a care package to Fiona.

Even once Fiona does make her way out during the day, visitors may or may not see her as she could be napping behind a rock or opting to stay inside.

Fiona was born six weeks premature. "It brings us to tears sometimes".

Getting used to the habitat and getting along with her parents are the two main factors between Fiona and the public. The company said it will donate 25 percent of the beer sales to the zoo's care team.
