Active shooter reported on Redstone Arsenal Army installation in Alabama

HUNTSVILLE -The city of Madison has posted an alert via social media stating, "POSSIBLE ACTIVE SHOOTER on Redstone Arsenal near the Sparkman Center".

An active shooter drill was planned for Wednesday at the arsenal, but officials said this is not a drill. Installation is locked down. However, officials tweeted Tuesday morning and urged everyone to "run, hide, fight".

Redstone Arsenal spokesperson Christopher Colster told that he was not aware of any reported injuries but that the location of the incident has not been determined.

Redstone is home to Army Aviation and Missile Command, Army Materiel Command, Marshall Space Flight Center, Redstone Arsenal, ATF and Federal Bureau of Investigation facilities. The installation hosts several military and civilian organizations, including the Army Aviation and Missile Command and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. All gates are closed at this time. Employees are being advised to shelter in place.

Ambulances have been seen responding to the area.
