YouTube on TV is uber-popular, 360-degree video support coming soon

Google is obsessed with 360ยบ video.

YouTube launched 360 video on its platform a little over 2 years ago.

Not only can you use services like YouTube and Netflix via Chromecast, triggered by Google Home, but that's now expanded to a much wider range of services, like HBONow and Play Movies.

You can already find thousands of 360-degree videos on YouTube that allows for the viewer to pan their smartphone around to pan around the video itself.

That capability will be coming soon to the YouTube TV app for TV-connected platforms including smart TVs and gaming consoles, Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, announced Wednesday at the Google I/O conference.

While it may not be the most exciting update in the world, it's certainly not a bad thing to be able to enjoy 360-degree videos while remaining seated and not having to spin around the room.
