Chennai: On the last day of his interaction with fans superstar Rajinikanth responded to BJP leader Subramanian Swamy's quip that the actor was not even Tamilian.

The actor rued that despite the presence of "efficient" politicians like M.K. Stalin (DMK) and Anbumani Ramadoss (PMK), the "system is affected". But what do we do when the system is rotten and democracy has deteriorated?' he asked. "Therefore a change is required to set things right", Rajinikanth said adding "for that to happen there has to be a change in people's mind set".

On the issue of many of his critics pointing out his "non-Tamil" origin, Rajinikanth said his native place was a village in Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu.

'I have my profession, my job. "If you all throw me out, I will go and fall only in the Himalayas and not in any other state". I have lots of work, all of you also have work to do, so go back and start doing it. "Let us face the war when it comes", he roared amidst a thundering applause from fans. "Tamizhar Desiya Periyakkam leader P. Maniarasan said 'Rajinikanth is not a Tamil and he was not faithful to Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery row between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka". Though I came here as a Marathi/Kannadiga, people of Tamil Nadu have given me money, fame and everything else. I have spent 44 years in Tamil Nadu.

BJP's opponent and TNCC president S. Thirunavukkarasar described the actor's remarks as a sign of his wish to enter politics. And it could be just around the corner, for those who have watched him for decades believe that this is the biggest hint that he has ever given indicating that he will join politics. Although Rajinikanth had said that it was a non-political meeting, the actor and Modi are known to share a personal camaraderie.

However, the superstar has so far not said anything clearly on his political intentions. "He (Rajinikanth) is a very good person, we welcome his entry into politics", the former state CM was quoted as saying by the news agency. He had also praised Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan and Naam Tamizhar Katchi leader Seeman. "I am happy he called me a good leader".
