Liberty is technically Virginia's largest university. Trump also received an honorary doctorate from the Baptist-affiliated university in Lynchburg, Va.

Anyone else find it ironic that "mandatory attendance" is required at Trump's speech at "LIBERTY" University?

Liberty University gave U.S. President Donald Trump a warm welcome during its commencement ceremony on May 13 despite previous opposition from the students over the school president's support for the Republican leader. Plus Mr. Trump took the time to go over some of his personal achievements.

President Trump disparaged critics as "pathetic" in a Liberty University commencement speech. In the end, he reminded students to never back down whether they defied expectations, challenged the accepted, or took on already established systems. Falwell noted that Trump is the second incumbent president to deliver a graduation address at the university since George H.W. Bush spoke there in 1990.

Before the friendly crowd, Trump expressed his appreciation for evangelicals.

"We love setting records -we have no choice."

"I really don't think any other president has done more for evangelicals and the faith community in four months than President Trump has", Falwell recently told The Associated Press (AP) in an interview.

"You are about the begin the greatest adventure of your life", the president told graduates.

"Nothing worth doing ever came easy, but the future belongs to the dreamer not the critic", Trump said.

In his first commencement address as president, Donald Trump promised Liberty University students that he will protect their religious freedom, and he encouraged them to embrace being an outsider to change the world.

"As long as I am your president, no one is ever going to stop you from practicing your faith or from preaching what's in your heart", he said.

Democrats, and some FBI officials, charge Trump got rid of Comey in order to impede an investigation into possible collusion between Trump campaign officials and Russian Federation, which tried to influence the 2016 election by hacking prominent Democrats.

Continuing his populist, anti-establishment narrative, the president said he has seen "firsthand how the system is broken" in Washington.

"I want to be perfectly clear".

"Carry yourself with dignity and pride". "He reaffirmed this nation's support for the state of Israel, he appointed a conservative pro-life justice to the Supreme Court, he appointed more men and women of faith to his cabinet than any other president in recent memory and last week he signed an executive order in order to return political free speech rights to churches, religious leaders and universities like this one".

He encouraged graduates to embrace the label of "outsider" and stand up for their beliefs.
