Karthik replaces injured Pandey for ICC Champions Trophy

The BCCI did not announce the squad by the deadline of April 25 to raise doubts of the team's participation following a stand-off with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over its revision of revenue and administration norms.

On the domestic circuit this season, Pandey, in the Ranji Trophy, had piled up 216 runs in 4 matches at an average of 36, his highest score being 75.

India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) middle-order batsman Manish Pandey was on Thursday ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the ICC Champions Trophy starting June 1. Karthik had last played in India colours in the Asia Cup contest against Afghanistan in 2014. He was part of India's victorious 2013 Champions Trophy campaign, and last played global cricket during the 2014 Asia Cup in Bangladesh. He has played 23 Tests, 71 ODIs and 9 T20Is for India. The India Cricket board has marked his name in the India team squad for the Champions Trophy.
