Conte said it was normal for a team to lose concentration at this stage of the season but he has confidence in his team. "Nobody told me anything", said the Italian, whose side remain 16th in the table. "That will serve me well, just for me, to take the experience and kind of see how things will happen in the future".

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has hailed John Terry's positive influence and stressed the centre-back has been key to their success this season.

Asked if Terry should retire, Conte said: "No".

He will lift a 15th major honour and fifth Premier League title in Chelsea's final game of the league season against Sunderland on Sunday on his Stamford Bridge farewell.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte insists he had no problem with Diego Costa going AWOL at halftime of their win over Watford. "Leaving me out of the side was probably a tough decision, but he pulled me in his office straight away and was very honest".

From scoring the title-winning goal on Friday to getting on the scoresheet again on Monday, Batshuayi's getting the rewards his hard work behind the scenes has deserved.

"I never wanted to hang about and stop the progress of a younger player - that was the basis of my decision".

Former England captain Terry is likely to receive numerous offers to play on, but he is contemplating quitting altogether when he leaves the club where he has spent his entire career.

"I was delighted to get on the scoresheet and more importantly to get the win".

'We are a great club and we need to compete to try to win every competition'.

At a club accustomed to buying the best talent available on the global market, Terry struck a chord with fans as a hard-working local lad who reached the very top of the game.

Conte handed Batshuayi as well as youngsters Kenedy, Nathan Ake and Nathaniel Chalobah their first Premier League starts of the season against Watford, while Ola Aina came on as a substitute but Ruben Loftus-Cheek was absent in the match day squad.

"I was sitting there wishing that the boys kept winning and performing well because for me I have had that time".
