"The tempo was very high, I haven't played in a while so you can see I'm blowing, I'm exhausted!"

Fifth-placed Arsenal trail Liverpool by a point and host Everton in their final Premier League match of the season on Sunday.

However, creeping past an already-relegated side is unlikely to appease the unhappy Arsenal fans who believe Wenger is not the man to take them forward.

'I think that's an insult to football as I've been a player myself, ' he said. I'm going for a decent home win.

"I've been trying to do that in training and hopefully get back in the team". As such, this season has been particularly painful and disappointing for the Arsenal fans, considering how much money Wenger spent on the likes of Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi, and Lucas Perez.

I'm not sure you can ever be confident when you have to rely on other results to go your way but we can only do our job and see what happens. "I'll give this one a miss".

But the people who really need the race for fourth to catch fire is the Premier League, whose title race and relegation issues have long since been decided. So I've just been patient.

Asked is this has been a successful season, Sanchez was non-committal but did suggest that winning the FA Cup against Chelsea (the final is at Wembley on May 27) would represent a big moment for the Gunners. Chelsea, crowned champions last week, finished 10th previous year.

"It seems unlikely that they will stay at the club".

The Gunners are outsiders in the race to finish in the top four of the Premier League and book a place in Europe's elite club competition.

The duo are approaching the final 12 months of their contracts and there is speculation they could move on at the end of this season. "Whatever they want, we will see it at the end of the tournament". "Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern, they always buy more players and I think we can have the option to buy more players to be stronger every day", the Chilean explained.
