3 injured after fire breaks out at Google conference

Six people were injured Thursday when a fire broke out at an amphitheater in Mountain View, where Google was holding a conference.

Firefighters responded to Shoreline Amphitheatre on reports of a fire inside one of the venue's food service buildings that was contained to the one building, fire officials said.

Social media posts taken by attendees show the fire blazing in the back of a kitchen.

"We're thankful to the fire department for putting it out and ensuring everyone's safety", a Google spokesperson said in a statement.

A Google spokesman said the company was making sure the three hospitalized event staff would "receive the proper treatment". Fire investigators were at the scene trying to establish an origin point and cause of the fire, he said.

The developer conference was interrupted only briefly and continued Thursday evening.
