Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi to portray Korg in film

It is set for release on October 27th in the United Kingdom and November 3rd in the States. If one thing's for certain, it's that if the fight between these two larger than life characters is half as epic in the film as it's been in what we've seen so far, then we're definitely in for a treat.

It is disapoointing that is seems Marvel isn't doing more to adapt the Planet Hulk storyline, other than a few nods and the gladiator arena, as Planet Hulk is a heck of an awesome story, but Marvel Studios technically doesn't have the rights to a solo Hulk movie, so I suppose we'll have to be at least somewhat happy with what we get with Thor: Ragnarok. But he didn't initially plan on taking that part. "Obviously, being made of rocks, we would have gotten someone like the Rock to play him, but there wasn't enough chicken or salmon in Australia to sustain both him and Chris".

"Because he's a good guy, we want people to love him and we want people to relate to him".

"I never thought I'd be playing the most lovable character in the film", he added. "He's huge and heavy, but with a light soul. As a director, I just found I had just all the time in the world for him and I wanted to give him take after take". "And Thor needs friends". Now while Korg sort of showed up in Thor: The Dark World - if that actually was him - the Kronan will see a makeover in the new film. In a sneak peek of Thor and Korg's first meeting, it is revealed that the Kronan will also be partaking in the gladiatorial duels arranged by the Grandmaster, portrayed by Jeff Goldblum. "I tried to start a revolution, but I didn't bring enough pamphlets", he charmingly says.

Let's hope he's not killed off and can come back again. Waititi directs from a script by Craig Kyle & Christopher Yost and Stephany Folsom and Eric Pearson, but he'll also get a starring role, as well.

The moment the pair meet has been captured in some stunning fan-art by the exceptionally talented George Evangelista.
