Microsoft has made a conscious effort to focus on battery life with Windows 10, having previously tested a more customisable battery tool, which allow users to set how heavy their computer's power-saving is via a slider tool. IT systems administrators can roll out the updates on a schedule, keeping up with the latest feature and security updates. (The ProPlus subscription includes the standard Office apps like Word and PowerPoint, but excludes some Office services like SharePoint, Yammer, Skype, and Teams.) Consumers who subscribe to Office 365, however, will continue to receive updates more frequently. By the time the end of Windows 7's 10 year life cycle support period arrives in January 2020, Microsoft will have almost three years of working within this new twice a year release cadence and will have the system well established.

However, at that juncture, the company was too busy with the Creators Update to elaborate on the details regarding these annual feature updates. Now the company has confirmed that it plans to release two updates per year-one in September and one in March-and said the Creators Update's antecedent should arrive in September 2017. The two-per-year rule and timing will also apply to the Office 365 application bundle-well, at least to the Office ProPlus version of the cloud applications suite.

The revelation comes as Microsoft announces plans to align its feature releases of Windows and Office, primarily to make things easier for enterprise users. The latest Build is now live and users can grab it by going to Settings Phone update Check for Update. With new features being added on a regular basis, we may never get to Windows 11.
