Seattle officers shot after robbery, 1 suspect dead

Two suspects were in custody and one remained at large shortly after the shooting. According to the Seattle Police Foundation, both injured officers appear to be "alert and OK".

One suspect is dead and two others were arrested, the Seattle Police Department said in a statement.

Officers discovered the body of a male suspect from the robbery after the shooting, according to a police statement.

Hospital officials now say the more seriously wounded of two Seattle police officers shot responding to a robbery is in serious but stable condition.

"Our hearts and our thoughts are with those officers and with their families", Murray said.

The 42-year-old female officer is in satisfactory condition and her 30-year-old male colleague is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center, police said.

As officers responded, a female suspect hit one of the officers on the head with a bottle and another suspect ran into a building, barricading himself inside, Seattle Police spokeswoman Carmen Best said at a news conference.

Two Seattle police officers were shot while responding to a report of a robbery Thursday afternoon at a downtown Seattle convenience store. One is in critical condition. A Harborview spokesperson described the male officer's injuries as life-threatening.

Police are advising people to stay out of the area near Madison Street and Western Ave in downtown Seattle.

Police initially said they were looking for a possible third suspect, but later tweeted, "Detectives have determined 3rd person initially believed to be suspect was not involved in incident". Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole tells reporters the injuries were minor.

Several blocks in Seattle are closed while police investigate.

The department disclosed the shooting on Twitter, saying the robbery had been reported near the waterfront, several blocks south of Pike Place Market.
