With the imminent release of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, it comes as no surprise that Samsung is prepping an active model for this generation of the phone. Would you be interested in buying an Active variant if it makes its way to India?

This is the first time Samsung didn't announce their flagship Galaxy devices at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but that doesn't seem to have deterred their resolve to compete at the top levels. Though, the USA variants of the Galaxy S8 and the S8+ come with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor. The company said Tuesday that the voice feature in its Bixby voice-activated personal assistant won't be shipping in the USA with the Galaxy S8 smartphone on April 21, but would be available later this spring. Just before the Galaxy S8 phones were made available in the market it released a second one-minute TV advertisement that shows Galaxy S8 is "infinitely amazing".

Both Samsung and LG Display now lead the market in flexible screen displays, and LG recently began investing billions of dollars to expand its production capabilities for that technology.

With the Samsung Galaxy S8 launched, many wondered if there will be an "Active" variant that will be launched this year.

This seams to work for the company as the Galaxy Edge phones enjoyed rather good sales and the Galaxy S8 already looks like a victor. Both the phones feature 64GB of internal storage with support for storage expansion via dedicated microSD card slot. We should have seen that on the Galaxy S 8 series, but what we got instead was a software-enhanced Galaxy S7 Edge camera.

With a portable dock, monitor, keyboard and mouse, users can pop the Galaxy S8 to a computer monitor and work with Microsoft documents or apps.

However, Google's voice assistant, which is now a standard part of the Android operating system, will be available. In two days, pre-orders hit 200,000 in South Korea for the Note 7.

Samsung's flagship launch in India coincides with the global unveiling of Xiaomi's flagship Mi 6.
