Those who register before Saturday, April 22 will also receive a free taco T-shirt, according to Brooke VanBuskirk, senior community manager for the organization. It is a time where what I went through was not in vain, because the American Cancer Society is raising money and awareness to fight this horrendous disease. Relay For Life supports the Society's vital research efforts, as well as programs for patients including transportation assistance and free lodging at Hope Lodge facilities. "Some people think you have to walk or run throughout the event", Rose said.

With rain in Friday's forecast, Yancey said a possible contingency plan for the event will be listed on the Relay for Life of Rogers County Facebook page. Mark and his team look forward to helping families protect the things that are most important - family, home, vehicle and more. "We'd love to have more people involved".

At the fundraiser, participants are welcomed in an opening ceremony, followed by a survivor lap, where cancer survivors and those now affected by cancer walk the track, cheered on by attendees.

Finally, participants are invited to walk the track as teams or individuals.

Gather your family, friends, co-workers, form a team and join this years Relay. Perhaps it is taking someone to treatment or preparing a meal or just sitting at their bedside so they know that they are not alone.

The VSU relay benefits the Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center at South Georgia Medical Center's Look Good Feel Better, which boosts how women view themselves when undergoing treatment; Freshstart, which is created to assist smokers in kicking the habit; and Road To Recovery, which provides transportation to and from treatment for cancer patients.

It will be held at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center.
